Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
Helping Everyone Find Their Place
At Sciences Po Lille, equality, diversity, and inclusion are at the heart of the institution’s mission. They are reflected in policies, support systems, and awareness-raising initiatives that engage the entire student and professional community.
The goal is to enable everyone to study, work, and get involved under the best possible conditions, regardless of their background, gender, social status, health status, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Preventing Violence and Discrimination
Sciences Po Lille takes action to prevent and combat gender-based and sexual violence, LGBTphobia, racism, antisemitism, and all forms of discrimination.
The school relies in particular on a Gender Equality Commission, a support and counseling unit dedicated to addressing gender-based and sexual violence, as well as a unit dedicated to combating racism, antisemitism, and discrimination. These reporting mechanisms allow victims and witnesses to report incidents confidentially and to be referred to the appropriate contacts and resources.
Training and awareness-raising initiatives are offered throughout students’ academic careers. These focus in particular on consent, the prevention of gender-based violence, harassment, and discrimination. Specific training sessions are also organized for student organization leaders to promote a campus environment that respects everyone.
Advancing Gender Equality and Professional Equality
The Gender Equality Charter commits the entire Sciences Po Lille community. It aims, in particular, to combat stereotypes, promote equal treatment, and improve the representation of women in teaching, governing bodies, and leadership roles.
It also encourages clear and inclusive communication, based on the feminization of job titles and roles, gender-neutral language, collective expressions, and, when appropriate, dual inflection. Sciences Po Lille does not use the median dot.
This approach is further developed in the 2025–2028 Action Plan for Professional Equality Between Women and Men. Its 18 actions focus in particular on compensation, access to professions and leadership roles, work-life balance, and the prevention of discrimination, harassment, and sexist behavior.
Studying in an Accessible and Inclusive Environment
Students with disabilities can receive confidential support and accommodations tailored to their needs. These may include assistance with organizing their studies, note-taking, equipment loans, access to facilities, or exam conditions.
The Inclusion Office also works on universal inclusive education and support for students with cognitive and mental health challenges, in order to better accommodate the diversity of situations and learning styles.
This support extends to international mobility programs. Additional assistance may be provided through the Erasmus+ program to students facing particular challenges or living with a disability.
Promoting Social Inclusion
Inclusion begins long before students enroll at Sciences Po Lille. Since 2007, the Integrated Studies Program has supported middle and high school students from low-income backgrounds, helping them gain a better understanding of higher education, strengthen their skills, and broaden their horizons.
Relying in particular on student mentoring and partnerships with schools, this program for making higher education more accessible reflects Sciences Po Lille’s commitment to promoting social diversity and equal opportunity in access to higher education.
