The Sciences Po Lille Degree

A five-year degree programme to understand today’s world and shape tomorrow’s

Recognised by the French government as a Master’s-level degree (Bac+5), the Sciences Po Lille Degree gives students the knowledge, perspectives, and skills to understand the major political, economic, social, and environmental transformations shaping our world—and the confidence to take action.

The Sciences Po Lille Spirit

  • Resolutely Interdisciplinary

    Understanding a complex world requires more than one perspective.

    Our curriculum brings together law, economics, history, political science, sociology, environmental studies, cultural studies, and modern languages. Students explore each discipline while learning to connect them, combine different approaches, and make sense of complex contemporary issues.

  • A Strong International Focus

    International experience is an essential part of the Sciences Po Lille journey.

    • A mandatory academic exchange abroad: one year in the general track, and two or three years in the dual international tracks;
    • Two modern languages studied throughout the programme, with a choice of English, Spanish, German, Italian, Chinese, Russian, or Arabic;
    • Opportunities to gain professional experience through international internships;
    • Courses taught by academics from leading universities in Europe and around the world.

    From the classroom to the world beyond campus, students learn in a diverse, multicultural environment that encourages them to broaden their perspectives and understand global challenges from different angles.

  • Progressive Specialisation

    As they progress through the programme, students build their own academic pathway.

    At Master’s level, they choose from 15 specialised tracks covering key fields such as public policy and public affairs, European and international governance, international relations, communication and media, journalism, economics, ecological transition, management, culture, digital technology, food systems, and more.

    Students can also pursue dual degree programmes with leading institutions in Lille, including the Lille School of Journalism, EDHEC Business School, and École Centrale de Lille, as well as with international institutions such as Johns Hopkins University (SAIS Europe) and the University of Szeged in Hungary.

  • A Challenging and Career-Oriented Programme

    Academic excellence goes hand in hand with professional preparation.

    Throughout the degree, students are encouraged to explore their career ambitions, develop their expertise, and put their knowledge into practice:

    • Career guidance and support from the first year onwards;
    • A research project in the fourth year, in the form of a thesis or expert report, developed through rigorous academic research;
    • A six-month internship or apprenticeship in the fifth year;
    • The Grand Oral, a key milestone designed to develop confidence, argumentation, and advanced public speaking skills.
  • A Solid Foundation of Strategic Skills

    The Sciences Po Lille Degree equips students with the skills to understand, lead, and act in complex environments.

    Graduates learn to:

    • Analyse complex situations and make informed decisions;
    • Design, manage, and evaluate public policies and strategic projects;
    • Produce expert reports and forward-looking analyses;
    • Negotiate and represent an organisation at national and international levels;
    • Lead teams and bring together diverse stakeholders;
    • Communicate with clarity, precision, and responsibility, in French and in foreign languages.
  • Diverse Career Opportunities

    The degree opens the door to a wide range of careers in France and internationally. Graduates go on to work in:

    • The civil service, local authorities, and public-sector organisations;
    • European and international institutions;
    • Non-governmental organisations;
    • Companies and consulting firms;
    • Media organisations and communication agencies;
    • Think tanks and research institutions;
    • Cultural institutions;
    • Social and solidarity economy organisations.

    With its interdisciplinary foundations, international outlook, and strong focus on professional development, the Sciences Po Lille Degree prepares students not only to understand the world, but to play an active role in shaping it.
